Amlodipine: Shoulder And Neck Pain
Due to some confusion between CVS and my doctor I was without my Amlodipine for a week before CVS finally agreed to give me three pills to get through until my prescription is refilled today or tomorrow. I had to leave work early yesterday because I didn’t feel right I can’t describe it other than to say something was definitely off and I was anxious enough to call CVS and basically plead with them to give me some pills. One thing I definitely noticed, though, was the pain in my right shoulder. I used to pitch and my shoulder felt like I had just pitched both games of a doubleheader. It wasn’t a throbbing, unbearable pain, but it was noticeable and my arm felt dead as if I wouldn’t have anything on my fastball if I had to pitch again .
Then my left shoulder started to feel the same way, and finally my neck felt like I had slept wrong or had whiplash. I picked up my pills and a bottle of water and took a pill before I left the pharmacy yesterday afternoon. My shoulders and neck continued to feel off through yesterday evening, but when I woke up this morning the pain was gone. It would be easy to blame it on a lack of Amlodipine for a week, so I’m wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything like the above.

How Is A Broken Neck Treated
Treatment for a broken neck is directed by the severity of the break:
- For a break that doesnt affect the spinal cord, a simple neck brace and rest with some pain management is preferred.
- If the break is more severe, surgery may be required to fix the bones and set them back into the correct place. A stronger neck brace will be used.
- For breaks that also damage the spinal cord, options are severely limited. Your spinal cord is unable to heal itself and there are no treatments available yet to fix the spinal cord.
Ways To Relieve The Pain
When you feel pain on the left side of your neck, there are several ways in which you can relieve minor to moderate pain at home.
- Medications: Taking an over-the-counter medication, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, will help provide relief for pain. Take any medications you buy as directed.

Many people report that a sedentary life makes the upper back pain worse. Remaining in one position for too long, as in sitting behind a desk, may also aggravate the symptoms. Try taking frequent breaks and change the position to allow for a reset before getting back to sitting.

Gallstones Or Enlarged Gallbladder
Pain in your right shoulder can be a sign of a gallstone blocking a duct in your gallbladder. You may also feel pain in your back between your shoulder blades. The pain may be sudden and sharp.

Signs And Symptoms Of Shoulder Pain
There may be many causes of shoulder pain. They all have their own unique set of symptoms.
People with shoulder pain can experience pain deep in the shoulder joint, in the back or the front of the shoulder and the upper part of the arm. Sometimes the pain in the shoulder can be described as a catching pain. The location and type of pain is likely to relate to the structure causing the pain.
In some conditions there may be reduced movement, and moving the shoulder may cause you to feel pain. A feeling of weakness of the shoulder/upper arm is also common.
Depending on the condition, there may be a sensation of the joint slipping out and back in to the joint socket, or the shoulder can become completely dislodged . Some people may experience sensations of pins and needles and burning pain. This is more likely to be associated with nerves from the neck than the shoulder joint itself.
Lack of movement after a shoulder dislocation is usually due to pain. Complete rotator cuff tears and injury to the axillary nerve both cause weakness in moving the arm away from the body. These problems require close clinical examination.
How Are Back And Neck Pain Treated
In many cases, acute back or neck pain may simply improve with some rest. Over-the-counter medicines such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen may also help with the discomfort. Try to move gently during this period, so that you won’t become stiff and lose mobility.
If you have chronic pain of your back and neck, try several remedies before considering surgery. These include:
- Hot or cold packs as advised by your healthcare provider
- Certain exercises to strengthen back and belly muscles and ease pain, such as stretching and flexing. Your healthcare provider can show you these exercises. Physical therapy can also help you find the correct exercises.

Take A Closer Look At Your Diet
What we eat matters for several reasons. When we prepare any meal, in most cases, we ignore whether it can build up gas. There are some foods known to cause a higher accumulation of gas in the gut. Avoiding these foods can be helpful. If you cannot completely avoid them, at least try to limit your consumption of the foods or ingredients.
A few foods that you need to exclude rather than asking can gas cause shoulder pain:
- Foods that are deep fried
- Meals that contain a large number of onions and garlic
